While Uncle Robert and Aunt Pauline Were Here...

Zach, Robert, and I flew Zach's kite he received from one of his best friends (Jensen) who went to China this summer. It was a lot of fun and almost got the best of us. We are out on the lawn at Hannah Holbrook.

Zach trying out his new yo yo. The yo yo came from his visit to the dentist. They gave it to him because he was so good during all 4 sets x-rays, not too common with children his age!

Uncle Robert giving Zach pointers with the yo yo. When he got tired of the yo yo, he and Aaron wrestled, their favorite thing to do. It was sooo funny to watch.

Big and little Aaron, Zach and Uncle Robert. Uncle Robert was so cute to watch Zach play his little Scooby Doo video game, even getting on the floor with him.

Zach signs with the Red Rockets!

Zach started his first season ever of soccer and had his first game on the first day of school! With no practice and gear issued just a few days before, we wondered how this first game was going to go. All we had to do was watch Zach and we knew he was more excited to play and have fun than anything else, not to mention, he got dressed hours before the game started.

At the team meeting, all the other kids picked the numbers that Zach wanted. But he didn't realize that no one had picked the best number, #1, and that was even cooler!

Zach did have one moment, after doing a lot of running, "Mom, is the game over yet?"

Zach always has this grin on his face as he runs. That makes it all worth it!

Zachary Starts Kindergarten

Zach started Kindergarten at Hannah Holbrook (my alma mater) on August 29, 2007. The following are a variety of pictures taken over the first 2 weeks (because the kindergarten age kids only go on the first day then they have about a week off due to testing and Labor Day. Needless to say, Zach was very excited to start school and we were excited for him too! He loves it a lot and even loves to walk the 5 blocks down the hill and through the "secret passageway" to school. It is a workout coming back up the hill, but he even loves to walk home with the ward/neighbor kids.

Zach on the first day. He had already ditched his backpack.

Zach's picture posted on the board down the hall to his classroom. The theme this year is "Team Holbrook". He also did his name in glitter glue for his first ever assignment.

Zach's classroom. As parents, we sat in the tiny chairs in this room during the back-to-school meeting. It is hard to imagine myself being that small at one time. :)

Zach loves the monkey bars and has mastered them pretty well. He loves recess so he can do the monkey bars and play with Hannah and Elise.

What We Did Before School Started Officially!

When we heard the water running outside, we naturally got suspicious of Zach. He had created his own swimming pool since there was a ban on all 5 year old children and younger swimming in the public pools. The ban came due to sicknesses contracted from swimming pool water. That didn't stop Zach, the next best thing is Weber water (who knows what kind of organisms are in there)!

Spencer and Kristi were here for a couple of weeks and we had a great visit! While they were here, the boys fell the dead Aspen tree in grandma and grandpa's front yard with dad's chainsaw. The men did their manly stuff while the children were enthralled by the manly stuff (and the loud chainsaw). We found all "the boys" on the porch watching.

Cute boys on the porch.

Spencer wanted us to take a picture of him cutting the tree.

Rob wanted to be real manly and hold the wood while it was cut.

Spencer is about to karate chop this branch!

Another Day at Lagoon Before School Starts

Yes, we are here at Lagoon again on August 24th thanks to discount passes from John and Tawnie. Zach was in absolute heaven. And unlike Stake Lagoon Day, Zach wanted to ride every adult ride he could with his allowable height. He luckily measured in at 46 inches...just tall enough for all the big rides except for Wicked and Jet Star II. He loved Dracula's Castle (unbelievably the dumbest ride ever and has not changed since I was a kid...that is about 30 years for those of you who are wondering). :)

Here we are on the warm-up rides of Dinosaur Drop and the Kontiki.

It is obvious that there is not much thrilling action on these kiddie rides, so we asked Zach if he wanted to ride some other adult rides. He was reluctant at first, but soon became addicted. The Tidal Wave was his first ever adult ride.

Here we all are ready to start the Tidal Wave ride that we had to talk Zach into...Just watch the succession of pictures and you can tell why he became addicted to the thrill of the bigger rides.

Here I am showing how the ride is really getting to me and hardly getting to Zach anymore. Love the triple chins!
Zach's ultimate favorite ride was the Wild Mouse! I was in the back and did not get a good shot of his face. But the fact that he wanted to ride it over and over was sign enough he loved it.
We then rode the old big Roller Coaster...rickety but fun.

We also rode the Sky Coaster back and forth and got these shots of the Tidal Wave and Roller Coast. Can this ride ever go continuous from start to finish without stopping at least 5 times!

The last shot of the night was in line at The Bat ride. We came upon it accidentally. It was fun but way too short of a ride. We stayed until closing and had a blast...Thanks to those who made it possible!
